Busy week!

Big plans!

Lots of people are taking time off this week. What are you doing? Are you getting things done on the project?

Today I removed the clecoes holding my wing skins in place and am prepping for the skinning process! I countersunk and deburred my spars and started deburring the skins.

I also made a cool dimpling setup surrounding my DRDT! It will make the whole skin dimpling thing MUCH easier as the sheet handling will almost take care of itself!

I hope to have things ready to rivet by week's end!

I am on a ROLL! Pics to follow!

What are you up to?

My top right wing skins are completely prepped and clecoed back on the wing. Now I am just waiting for someone to help me buck the rivets. A friend told me he would help tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have to go back to work day after tomorrow.

Since I am building in very limited space, I can only work on one wing at a time. As soon as I get the top skins riveted on the right wing, I will take it off the building jig and start on the left.

Top skins all edge deburred!

Hey Pat, I am wonderin'...

Why did you do your right wing first? All the diagrams depict left wing. I am doing mine simultaneously amd KNOW for SURE that if I were to do my left wing first and alone, I would have reversals.

What is your logic?

CJ,

I built both sets of spars first, before doing any other wing work.

After I set up the wing jig, I walked over to pick up a main spar.

The right main spar was easiest to get to.

Well, the week is over and I do have something to show for it!

I dimpled the rear spars and main ribs (by hand because Fred has my pneu squeeze):

...spot primed the spars:

...painted the skins that I dimpled earlier in the week:

...and hung them!

I would say it was a productive week! This whole thing needs some noodling over before I get to riveting, but I am happy to have had this week to get this much done!

Now I need to get back to the right tank.
