Spar Dent

Fellow Builders,

I riveted the skin onto my HS the other day. Unbeknownst to me, I had selected my most evil bucking bar for this task, which waited patiently whilst I riveted away happily, until I stopped concentrating for a moment when the foul thing twisted in my hand to create this perfectly-formed dent in the HS front spar:

After my horror subsided, I emailed Vans asking if I was doomed, and what to do. As usual, they replied immediately. Before I reveal their response, would anyone care to guess what they said?

Since I'm all but guaranteed to be wrong, I'll go first. (or second :) )

"looks ok"

Hmm, since you were using a bucking bar I imagine its the front spar. Seeing that I dont see any sign of the doublers I imagine its farther out towards the spar. And lastly, it appears to only affect the inside of the flange. My quess is to keep on trucking.

It's just the flange. Build on.
If it were in the web it may be a different story.

You're all correct, I guess dents look much bigger on your own plane than on someone else's. Vans said "Do nothing to it, move on..."
