I got down to the last two screws to put in the right side floor pan the other night, and realized that I hadn't yet removed the two screws that hold the aileron trim bracket in place. Those two screws also needed to go thru the floor pan.
Sucked. I had to remove all 500 screws (seemed like it) in order to get those two screws out of the way. Then my cordless died. End of work session right there.
Last night, I go to put them all back in, and I had an AL splinter get underneath my finger nail (YYEEEOOOUUUCHH!!), and one in my toe. Three of the screws don't want to go in, and it was hotter than frickin' blazes in the hangar last night. Tonight will be no different...
Getting an airworthy airplane ready to fly kinda sucks at this point.
Floor pans. I hate the screws.

Hi Chad,
You may want to chase them with the correct size starting tap to help get the screws started. Also when ever I put in alot of screws in a large panel I always leave all of them loose till I get everyone started.
You probably know this, but it don't hurt to mention it,
Good Luck,
Mike Balzer

It is better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, then being in the air and wishing you were on the ground. N78MB

pulled a few AL slivers out of my feet also. One of the hazards of having a shop 30 paces from the house.
Had my own screw up repair today.....I hadn't riveted the top edge of the side skins or installed the cap strip on the center section. Well got to do them today, with the panel installed and my custom left hand throttle had to be removed to get behind everything....oh well what's another 2 hrs.
