approaching 1200 hrs and 10 years on this WW200 prop. O-ring service at 6 years. original paint. I have no complaints. cleaned the nickel leading edge with micromesh.
a constant speed prop allows for the full the engine rated power at take-off and may save a small amount of fuel during cruise. other than that, it's the same as fixed pitch. I've really only needed it one time at takeoff, a short runway (Goodspeed 42B), 30 geese lifted off from an unseen gulley and came across the runway midfield, fully loaded with my wife and baggage, no other good options except to climb. did you know that geese have their mouths open slightly during a hard climb....
*******
geese came from the left, from behind the hangars. now before I takeoff from a runway like this I power up and taxi around beforehand to make some noise.
that day, GoodSpeed airport, 42B
WW200 10yrs - no complaints
