The 2016 NOTAM has been published at http://www.eaa.org/~/media/files/airven ... 0notam.pdf

If you're too lazy to print it out, be sure to donate $0.00 to this site and request for it to be conveniently send to you in booklet form at: http://www.eaa.org/apps/airventure/nota ... quest.aspx

The following are the main changes from the previous years NOTAM:
  • Frequencies for Departure ATIS and Runway 9/27 departures
  • Taxiways north of OSH Runway 9/27
  • Markings on OSH Runway 36R
  • Notification requirement for aircraft over 12,500 pounds
  • Internet URLs
  • Advisory about separate arrival and departure frequencies
For those newcomers to Oshkosh, DON"T BE SCARED OF THE ARRIVAL PROCEDURE! The first time I flew in it seemed overly complicated and overwhelming. I usually stop for fuel about an hour away from Oshkosh and review the hold and arrival procedure. About 30 nm away I start monitoring the ATIS and arrival frequencies to see what runways are being used. At that time I re-read the procedures pertaining to the specific runways being used. At 20 miles out, start looking for traffic! It starts to get crazy. I've always used the low speed / low altitude procedures (1800' / 90 kts), but if your RV can go faster (2,300' / 135 kts), I would recommend going high! I have found myself all too often behind a slower airplane who is doing WAY less than 90. Keep an eye out for other airplanes, keep a closer eye out on your speed, especially on the downwind-to-base-to-final turns. They ask you to make a really tight pattern, and your stall speed is really reduced on the tight turns they ask you to do!

I'd be more than happy to chat on the phone with anyone new who wants to hear some of my experiences. PM me for my #.

Meh...

There was a thread on that OTHER site about going high. The general concensus was RV's go low and slow.

Mikey, also... please change the title of this thread from 2015 to 2016. You seem to be living in the past. Don't worry, that happens when you get old. Someday I will be as old as you!

I tell ya Doc, lately I am feeling it!

Yesterday I rode my bicycle into the ditch up in Maine. I am sporting a pretty good shiner after joing the "over the bars club"!

Should have remnants of the bruise at Osh...

We don't heal as fast as we used to!
