Oshkosh 2018

Post by bruceh »

Looks like I will be attending again! Just got word too from my son that he has got the time off from his work and is going to come along with me. Back to tenting it in the HBC area this year. Looking forward to seeing all of the RB folks again.

So what's the schedule going to be?
Sunday Homebuilt beer tasting/social
Monday RV Beer fairy
Tuesday ?? (think I will skip the Van's Banquet - any other ideas?)
Wednesday (Black Otter meat-fest, or night airshow?)
Thursday ??

We will probably head back to California via Utah (visit my daughter) on Friday. Let's hope the weather is pleasant, or is that too much to ask for?

Have been wondering about the beer tasting at the HBC this year. Is it happening? Sunday evening? Might have missed a post or two... in any case, will be bringing some barley-pops from the Seattle and would enjoy sharing same, and meeting/seeing folks. Last year was my first visit to the show and the beer tasting was... ahem... one of the highlights.

Excellent. Besides some of Seattle’s finest, can I help out? Set up? Nametags? ... ready to report for duty...

Beer has been procured! I'll be bringing some tall cans of Beachwood Amalgamator IPA, and the son will be bringing something too.

Nice!

I will bring something from along my route home from Alaska. So far nothing has been able to last longer than 24 hours from time of purchase!

I will work on my willpower!

We might arrive on Saturday!?!

At least arriving on Saturday shouldn't be an issue for you. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for anyone that lives east of Ohio at the moment. Between the thunderstorms and low clouds, its starting to look like last year again. Especially with that cold front parking itself over Ohio for the weekend.

I've got a 9:45am IFR slot and hoping that the thunderstorms are very intermittent on Saturday morning. I think once I can get west of Indy, I'll be fine.

Bob,

Yep the weather is really looking hard for a Sat or even Sun arrival. I don't have a slot so I don't have that option.

Bummer!

The cold front appears to be slowing down. This morning's forecast is showing the front parked over Dayton Saturday morning. If we can get on the other side of the front it shouldn't be a problem for anyone flying IFR. It looks likes it's going to be MVFR most of the way for me.
