Seats fold?
Seats fold?
Just looking at the "mission" for an aircraft I would like to build and wondered if the seat backs in the RV14 fold forward for better access to the baggage area? (want to be able to put a folding bike etc in the back) Wondering about the 7 as well?
Re: Seats fold?
I don't know how the RV-14 works, but the RV-7's seats do pivot forward, however, there is a permanent bulkhead right behind the seats that does not move. Here is a <messy> picture of my RV-7 with the seats out.

RV owners have indicated success getting two Brompton M6L bikes (http://www.brompton.co.uk) in the baggage area in a tip-up.

Another option to get greater access to the baggage area is to look at the Tip-Up Slider modification for RV-6/7/9 Sliding Canopies (http://www.aircraftextras.com/tip-up-slider1.htm). This gives great access to the baggage area.

Re: Seats fold?
Thank you for the response. I figured the bulk head would be there but in the 14 it looks like the seats extend a fair bit above it so if they fold forward it would be beneficial.
Re: Seats fold?
The Brompton bikes look like an excellent product. I've never seen one, but I have seen the Bike Friday products made here in Oregon, if you'd like to consider one made in America. They have been a frequent vendor displaying at various Vans fly-ins like Homecoming and so on. I know this thread isn't about the bikes, but since the Brompton was mentioned, I thought I'd add the Bike Friday as another consideration. I've seen them, ridden on a couple of them, and they do a demo at the fly-ins where they show how easily they go into an RV. They even manage to get one into an RV-4! (that one does require disassembly, but it goes together again very quickly).
