well, it appears they went in hard going round and round in IMC. it was a really nice-looking aircraft, but some commented after the crash that it was barely recognizable to be an aircraft. they most likely did not feel anything.

The aircraft, an experimentally Paul Berkovitz kit built Van's RV-10, N626PB, was destroyed when it impacted two residential structures and a post crash fire ensued near Simi Valley, California. The two occupants and a dog were fatally injured.

seems that he was way behind the aircraft by his speech patterns.... and didn't recognize he was in serious trouble.
