A little more work on the empenage

Post by svanarts »

I worked a bit more on the HS skeleton. I found out I don't know much about alodining. :?

I'm definately going to need to work on my technique a bit. Everyone likes pictures so....

Looking good Scott. Are the lines on the map routes that you have flown your -4?

Actually, yes. The red line is the route I took to OSH in 2005, the blue line is where I was showing the kids what route the airline was going to take on our Tennessee vacation.

That looks great Scott, you're really moving, I started a month and a half ago and aren't that far along. Keep up the good work. Your alodining looks a darker than mine. but other than that I can't really say much as I don't know what I'm doing, I just did the spars last night.

Scott, looks like good progress! I was working on those parts just one year ago.

Here's a question for y'all empenage graduates. One of the steps says to enlarge the HS-708 to HS-603PP holes to #19. That sound right? That's seems like an awful big hole to me. :?

The deep color of the alodine/etch looks to me like it's being left on too long.
I would think 1/2 that tint/color would be long enough for adequate protection.

Also, don't let it (alodine) dry on the parts... It should always stay wet and then rinse with water thoroughly after it's started to tint up.
