Center elevator control horn

Post by jim_geo »

This entire thread may be of very minimal importance to anyone but here goes. I can't remember who posted this question, but since I rigged my elevator controls today I'll answer it, at least as far as a 7 is concerned and I have a feeling that it's probably true for the entire RV line. Question was, Is the elevator control horn vertical from the floor of the plane or vertical from the floor of the shop? Sorry to say I don't have the plan number right in front of me but the one to look at is the drawing of your plane in top and side view showing all the components in neutral rig. It's pretty clear to see in that drawing that “vertical” means from the ground. After rigging I stood back and noticed how close the control stick position jibbed (dead on) with what's on paper. Another point I noticed was how dead on the drawings matched the real world when I bolted the HS on and sighted down from it's tip to the fuse side. The confluence of lines on the drawings matched what I was looking at in a way I didn't expect.
