Helps back and we are moving forward

Post by JohnR »

Luke got home about 3:30 this morning so tonight I put him to work.

Thanks to Tom C. coming down last Saturday I had the aft fuselage ready to rivet the side skins. We went out this evening and shot those rivets. We backriveted about all of them with a few exceptions. Here is the help and the results.

And an inside shot.

John,

Are you using a tungsten bar for the backriveting, or the three or four pound steel round face (or something similar)?

CJ, it sure goes faster if you can talk someone into helping. Gee guys, look at all the good experience you would be getting.

I am using SW epoxy primer. I have found it shoots good, is fairly tough, and I can buy it locally. Well, almost locally, only 55 miles away.

Chad, we used the tungsten bar below. It provides a nice big surface area and weighs about the same as the bar in the photo with it. I think any bar that povides a good large flat surface would work well.

I agree, things go much better when you have a helper. Here is a pic of my helper. Oh and going on 29 years and she loves to fly, and she loves anything to do with aviation. She is giving up any extras to get this rv done, way cool. In fact right now she lets me take off during lunch to fly. I have already accumulated 240 flights for the year and well over 250 hrs. how cool is that.
