Fuse is here!

Post by Brantel »

I just picked up my fuse kit!!!!

The crate bottom is curved open on one end and I can see skins in there. Hopefully when I get it home I will find no damage.

Those ABF freight people stink! I walked into the terminal and see my crate standing longways on its end. $$$ signs and arrows pointing sideways. Who knows how many times it has been toppled over.

They trashed my wing kit boxes as well. For the finish kit, I am going to request a different carrier. (Who knows they all may be the same)

At any rate, Fuse is here

ABF Sucks! They delivered a shed last month and their truck dripped oil all over our concrete and slate driveway. Grrrrrr!!!! :x

I've had all my kits delived by FedEx frieght and have never had an issue, but I am also a lot closer to Van's than most.

My finish kit was supposed to get here last week but I talked with Partain today and it will be a week or so yet. He ended up hauling a bunch of stuff to Osh for the manufacturers. Put him behind a little. At least I'm not really needing it yet.

All of my other kits I had shipped AFB and had no problems to speak of. This time I decide to use Partain and see how that went.

My finish kit arrived and was delivered by fedx, in fact all my stuff has come fedx and they are great, the driver was so careful and there was not a scratch on the box anywhere. They did a great job.

Watch Out

Post by TomC »

Hey Brantel,

Here's one watch out. When drilling holes in the empenage and wings, I got in the habit of drilling the hole and then wiping off the shavings with my fingers. When I began the firewall, I did the same thing. I then wondered where all the red paint came from. It was blood. The stainless burrs are very sharp.

Good Luck,

Good Luck,
Thanks for the tip! I already drilled all the firewall holes and luckily, I did not cut myself yet :o

I have pretty rough hands but every now and then I cut them. Hole burs seem to be the easiest way to make blood. :bang:

trying to squeeze my hands in between wing ribs proved to be a good way to test how thoroughly I deburred the rib edges :D

Finished the F-705 bulkhead... Man this is the bulkhead from hades. Every time you look at the print, there is something else to do or make for this bulkhead. Glad to be able to move on, this is a time sucker!

Also, not to break the tradition, I finally drilled my finger this weekend :bang:

As I was slightly reaming out a seat belt bracket hole, I was holding the bracket in one hand and drilling in another when the very sharp #12 bit jumped thru and hit my finger at about 2000 rpm.

Here is the damage:
