Thanks Spike,

Me thinks that it will all come to a screeching halt if I can't find a quicker way to save money for the finish kit...... :bang:

So much of the finish kit is the canopy with relatively few parts. Maybe you could work up a partial kit order for only those parts. This would be cheaper up front and would keep you going. I don't know what the premium for ordering the parts this way would be, however. Just a thought.

Good Luck!

Hey Brantel, while you are at it and before you take things all apart...

Whip up the outboard brackets for the fuel line covers and rivet them on NOW!

It is WAY easier and can be done with solid rivets instead of poppers!

You betcha!

Hey, while you are still whittling... maybe getting some 10/32 single lug platenuts for the front tank reinforcement brackets on the inside of the cockpit would be easier than using a wrench in there later.

I installed them on the lower screws on mine.

Now that the LED nav lights are complete, I have moved back to the fuse. Saturday I built the brake pedals and if you have done this, you would agree that this is no small task. It took at least 4 hours solid to get these things ready and rivet them together!

Almost ready to flip the canoe!

Post by Brantel »

Well by the end of today I should have the canoe flipped! All that is left to do is a few rivets aft of the seat back bulkhead.

Don't you hate it when you are about to finish the last rivet on the rear deck where the HS mounts when all of a sudden you drop your heavy bucking bar! :bang: :bang: :bang:

Image

Get this thing completly put together with no dents, flip it over and bang, dent :bang: :bang: :bang:

Turned my outty into an innie with the rivet gun, now what is the best filler for filling little innies?

Anywho, finishing the long list of little things that need doing after the flip. Actually getting allot done, it just does not look like it because it is scattered here and there.

Still no time for that much needed haircut, huh!?!

You are really moving right along!

The list of little things to do is really quite unlimited depending on how complete you want to do this stage of construction.

Lookin' good!

Does the tongue hanging out help with the rivet timing?

Nope, hair is gone. Back to my normal self, cut the hair all off Sunday.

I inherited the tongue thing from my dad, he always had his hanging out anytime he was working on anything. Now I do it without even knowing it.

I plan on doing as much as possible to this thing before moving to the airport so I have tons of stuff I can do. Like you said, it is unlimited at this point.

I have checked off lots of things, gotta get that money together for the finish kit!

Yep, Poke around on all them Efis sites.... Trying to figure out what I want, need and can afford. There is a wide gap between each of those requirements!!!!

I think I am lucky because we are in a period of great advancement in the EFIS/EM market. These guys are really boosting the feature to price ratio to our benefit! Hopefully by the time I am ready to buy, most if not all of the major manufactures out there will have a similar feature set for the price.

I want an IFR bird. Not for everyday 200ft and 1/2mile but I want to be able to if I have to. Mostly popping thru layers and the occasional 600 to 800ft and 1 to 2mile approach.

Its a while before the decision has to be made so I am just sitting back and watching the features getting released.

Yah, that is kinda what I want. I wanna bust through layers and file slash Golf for MVFR days.

The AFS with a D10 on the right side should work well for me.
