When to rivet these heavy angles in place?

Post by Brantel »

When do you rivet the seatback bulkhead reinforcement angle area for the tipup? The directions are telling me to rivet the canopy decks, the canopy latch area gusset and stuff to the longerons and bulkhead so I can see no choice but to go ahead and rivet the heavy angle in place at this time. The problem is that this will totally block the area where the forward turtledeck skin attaches to the sides in this area making bucking these rivets impossible.

So when do you rivet this heavy angle in?

Brian,

I just did those back in October, just after I had drilled the canopy roll bar in place. I riveted the angle, then final installed the roll bar.

some of the rivets in the window skin are next to impossible to rivet with these brakets in place (705G for tippers). i installed them and then the side skin long before i installed the window.you could however use pulled rivets, which is what the Q/Bs do i think. TEHO as i mentioned in another post, if you are going to have a remote mount compass/magnetometer you will want to fit it prior to installing this skin..most will need to be on the same axis as the head unit but not specifically on centerline. pitch roll and yaw have to be the same. so install a shelf with 8 deg. of tilt to match the panel for the magnetometer. esp with Dynon
william....don't let it beat you down, you are stronger than you think.
