headroom in rv7a

i'm trying to decide on a canopy option prior to ordering the qb kit. i have flown in two 7's ... one with a tip up and one with a slider. i swear i had about an inch more headroom in the slider with the seats in the same position and the seat foam being equal ... can anyone confirm that there is in fact 1 inch more headroom in a slider vs a tip up? thanks in advance for the assist.

There is no difference in the canopy height. I flown in both as well, and to me, I think the difference in merely in perception. The slider gives you something to measure the distance between your head and the canopy with the roll bar being in front of you. The tip up obviously does not have this, so you can't tell exactly where the canopy is, unless you really look for it.

I could be wrong, but I believe they are the same.

ive been in both and seem to think the slider had more room...however this can be due to trimming of each..i would imagine you could get more or less...just look around at others sites and you'll surely see where some cut at the bend in the front glass and others will cut up the window and unknowingly be lowering it at the front in an attempt to get the roll bar to touch before cutting the canopy.i would suspect the slider roll bar would prevent this from happening. no two are exactly alike as far as tippers go. i came up the vertical portion on the front 5/8 of an inch or more, others come up none at all.

Thickness of the seat cushion could have a big effect on headroom too.

At 6'2", it is important to me also. I have flown in a -9A tipper, and felt it had more headroom than a slider I've sat in. But, I can not be more objective as the seats were different. But shouldn't it be the same? Isn't the canopy the same plexi part, but cut in different places between the two options, with the same?
