Front Spar Assembly

Post by johnson81 »

Ok, total newb here with a newb question. I just started the empennage kit and working on the front spar assembly. The second step says to "Drill/match drill all the holes inboard of the HS-404/ HS-405 rib attach points…) but doesn't specify the drill bit size. I don't see it on the plans (might be overlooking it totally) but I'm guessing it's a #30 bit? Thanks for any input. I just don't want to start messing things up this early on...

Look at the rivet callouts on the plans for those holes. If they're -4 rivets, then #30 holes (1/8). If -3, then #40 (3/32)

Thanks for the quick response. So the plans call for AN470AD4-6 rivets for those parts. Would that mean I need a 1/8 bit? Seems to fit perfectly in the pre-punched holes :dunno:

Number 30 drill bit is what you need for a 1/8'' rivet. 1/8=.125'', #30=.1285". you need a slightly larger for clearance.
