RV-7A Instrument Panel

Post by RudysRV7 »

So I am sure that everyone has been at this point...how do I layout the instrument panel. I want to keep this simple & hopefully build it for about $8,000.00. I have some ideas with my layout, but I don't have a lot of knowledge about manufacturers and where to go. I just know the basic VFR instruments. I am used to hopping in a Cessna and flying.
So now comes the fun part...finding the particular instrument, which manufacturer to buy from, and can I get a CAD template for it. I want to be able to layout this panel out in CAD, moves things around and create a template.
Any helpful suggestions, websites, etc; would be greatly appreciate.
Thanks

Here's a $7000 panel everything included. I had a friend help layout the components using CAD. then I had a full size print made at a local print shop. This allowed me to sit in the plane and visualize the layout to ensure it's what & how I wanted it.

AvMap used to make the EKP IV, but has been replaced by the EKP V. It looked like a great unit when I demo'd it as OSH.

I thought about upgrading this winter and also adding a second radio, but in the end I'll buy Avgas.
