GPS antennae position

Post by Harveyseven »

Hi all,

I’m fitting a Dynon SkyView system and was planning on fitting the GPS antennae out of sight (so as not to spoil the gorgeous flowing lines of my beautifully painted aircraft that I have in my head :) ). My plan is to fit it under the engine cowling, as many have done already. My question is, has anyone had issues with either poor satellite reception or the antennae suffering the effects of high temperatures under the cowl? My back-up position is on top of the fuselage, behind the canopy (tip up).

Thanks

That is the location of choice for many. I have had no issues at all after using that location for several hundred hours with two different airplanes.
