Chad -

Good luck on the SPAR!

In the words of my building mentor who completed his second RV in 25 months (IFR RV-7A Slow Build) :

Think.....Think Again.....Think ONE MORE TIME and then drill!

He kept many of the parts that ended up "Shop Art" as a reminder of the above saying!

Put some pictures up when you're on your way!

First time posting.... I have a question. I am getting ready to order my wings, what other items need to be purchased at the same time besides the the fuel sending units. Things like auto pilot servos, wiring for lighting, lighting system components, etc. ????? Any items not included in the kit that would have been nice to have when building the wings. :?

i didn't order anything extra other than the sending units. i just wasn't sure on the lighting when i ordered the kit, so i waited. the duckworks landing lights are retrofittable, so they can be ordered anytime. wingtip lights from vans or creativair can be ordered later as well. i'm planning on tip landing/taxi lights, along with my own strobe/nav light design. i think wiring needs to be thought of early on, though it doesn't need to be ordered with the wings. the conduit is the important thing to remember when working on the ribs. i'm just getting to that point now (getting ready to deburr the ribs this week/weekend). i'm not planning an AP right now, but they are retrofittable as well (might be difficult, but doable). tie down rings don't come with the kit. i just ordered those last week, but those are another "anytime" purchase.

i would do the same thing over again. just get 'em ordered with whatever sending units you choose, and get to work...

Welcome Jerry :welcome: Im glad that you decided to jump in. I also ordered my wings with nothing. Actually I think I even put off the fuel level senders until I knew more about what I wanted to do.

What's that? You made it all the way through the emp with no help from the wise guys - er, I mean, wise men - of Rivet Bangers? Amazing!

Yep prestwich, I just kept plugging away and checked out builder sites. Pictures are a great thing. I have a friend of mine that has build a 6 and just finish his 10. check out his site at www.rvtraining.com . He also does RV training for Van's in the Dallas TX area.
