Yep it is gray. The fluorescent lights and the camera playing tricks with each other.

It is light gray Stewart Systems/AFS waterborne primer.

Got a bad case of the Chinese food digestive track disruption syndrom on Friday which put a dent in my aircraft building time. (It was bad :( and lasted for two days :o ) So the only thing I got done is deburing and dimpling all four bottom wing skins. This is no small task as there must be a bazillion holes on these things.

Before that I installed the Van's conduit, poked in a bunch of snap bushings, bought a SafeAir Pitot/AOA tubing kit from another builder who did not end up using it and finished riveting the flap brace and aileron seal to the other wing.

A shot of primer and I can start riveting the bottom skins on!

No pics but I am slowly making progress on the ailerons.

Got all 32 stiffners made and debured (Whew) both skins drilled, debured and dimpled.

Almost forgot to dimple the bottom to spar holes for the pop rivets but I caught it in time.

Ready to backrivet the stiffners on and get these puppies together.

Started at 1:30pm and by 7pm three buddies of mine and I had the bottom skins on the left wing. I have no clue how some of you have done this by yourself! :? :? :? :? :? :?

No kidding. This project has taught me 2 things. The first is patience. The second is that it has taught me to stop, acknowledge my shortcomings, and ask for help when necessary. I can't do everything myself after all.

Turns out that Patti is really good with a rivet gun too.

Good work. Your progress is definately impressive.

Brantel, that is good to hear! You can do those bottom skins by yourself, I did all of my bottom skins excwept for a handful of rivets by myself. I talked my wife into shooting about 4 rivets that I could not reach. It does help to have arms like an orangatang though. Plus tou need to be a little stubborn and hardheaded. My wife says I qualify in that area.

Keep on pounding rivets!

Well, my arms are short and beefy so no way I could do this myself....

Glad I have willing and veteran helpers!

Helpers are good! I have several experienced people who would be willing to help, the problem is I feel bad asking them because I live an hour away form most of them. No one local has any experience or much interest other than wanting to see the airplane in the garage.

Tom Caruthers, from this board came down and helped me rivet my tail cone. Thanks Tom! I'm not sure why but that was one of the more difficult areas for me so far.

Just curious, are you going slow build or quick build on your fuselage? If you told us already I've forgotten, everyone tells me that since I'm over 50 that is allowed.

Stole the idea from Chad and Brad's websites.....

Works great.

It is great to have people ahead of you that come up with ways to work smart, especially when they document it on their websites!
