Brian, I will e-mail you the name and e-mail address of the DAR that is president of our EAA Chapter 551. Tim is a good egg and flies an RV-4 with an O-360 200HP with constant speed prop. Tim would probably like to fly to Montana anyway.

ok folks, While I appreciate the offers, I'm waiting. I would rather spend them money on Avgas. I still have a few loose ends I can be working on anyway. Yes it sucks, but I called the near by DAR his rate is actually $500 now...but he could be here on Friday...nope not gonna do it.

First taxi was tonight...woohoo! seemed a little squirrely at first. Then once I got to the end of the runway, I did another radio check....nothing. Luckily in sleepy town, no one else was needing the runway. Also forgot to raise the flaps...doh! On the return trip I ran the power up to 2200rpm, I zipped through 30knots so fast I cut the power before we were flying. I kept the stick hard back to keep the tail down and N155BK was rock solid, straight as an arrow. Got radio reception as I got closer to the audience, so must have a bad antenna connection. (at my house I tested the radio to a friend flying 10 miles away loud and clear). OH well grins all around.

I'd post video if I could figure out how to get it off my Droid and edit it to a usable size.

These cellphone videos are lousy but I think hosting on youtube is half the trouble. They're not as grainy on my computer.

Here is the second half of yesterdays taxi test.

I hope the weather we are getting here in Minnesota and North Dakota doesn't screw up your appointment. They have had tornados in Wisconsin and Illinois today. I am doing my annual condition inspection but decided I didn't want to fight 38 mph wind gusts driving to and from the airport. We had an 11/4" of rain Sunday and 2" overnight so the airport where I have my airplane is rainsoaked :bang: It is all sand but right now it is probably all muck especailly where I park my vehicle. Again good luck tomorrow or when he can get there!

Talked with FAA this morning. He will be here tomorrow at 1:00. :deal:

I figured he would want all the inspection panels open, but no. He said have it ready to fly, if we need to look in something I'll have you open them. I have to do an engine start and then pull the cowl.

So I spent the day putting on covers and inserting 1000 screws. Seats, carpet, etc... :o :o :o

I still need to do a few things in the morning...like engrave and attach a Data plate.

I work alone, but really appreciate all the help you Rivetbangers have given me. :grouphug: Wish us luck

Brian,

Congratulations for making it this far. I am sure tomorrow will go off without a hitch for you. You have to love putting in all of those inspection panels. Oddly enough, my FAA inspector wanted all the panels off.

One bit of advice, is have some coffee and donuts waiting for the FAA inspector!

Can't wait to see a picture of a pink slip tomorrow! Maybe a first flight this week?

They are coming right after lunch so not sure donuts will be needed. But I'll probably have something just in case.

first flight may have to wait. I'm having a friend do the first flight and he lives in Idaho. Snowing here right now, so we'll be watching the forecast closely.
