I Would Like To Thank The Academy . . .

Post by aparchment »

Man I can't tell you how grateful I am to all of you guys who have come before me and made it significantly easier to build my wings. I mounted the first set of skins this evening, and I am thrilled. It's been a busy summer, and I am behind schedule, but without people like John Sannizaro, Rudy Greyling, Chad Jensen, Brad Oliver and Dan Checkoway my progress would have been much slower.

Thanks guys.

Antony

yes - a hand

Post by aparchment »

Hey John:

I literally need a hand. When it comes time to rivet on the leading edge, my hand doesn't fit through the smaller access holes in the spar! Who helped you with yours?

Mine just barely fit ... and I have some marks on my forearm and missing skin left over from it!
Even with the offset rivet set ground all the way to the lip of the set I could barely get it on the head of the rivet.

Sure was nice and easy to squeeze all those rivets along the spar, though!!

Well, that was really nice Antony! Glad we could be there to help! I am in the same boat though with the guys (that you listed, other than me) that came before me...

If we can just get CJ to start a builder's site, we'd all be better off!!!

The hand you need is on the end of Wicked Stick's arm!

I am currently using it to do my wing skins. When I am done, I will send it up to you!

In all seriousness, mebbe we can arrange a trip up there in the -4 or a bunch of us in the Arrow.

You gotta ask WS real nice, though!

Antony, yo uare right on the money with this post. The sites you mentioned really help whe nI get stuck and this board is a great resource also. Between them there is seldom a question that I can't find an answer to.

Thanks from me also guys!

ask nice

Post by aparchment »

I will ask real nice. Perhaps a bribe of food and drink would help -- the food prior to and during the riveting, the drink after. Of course if you fly, we might have to come up with a different arrangement.

If you do pack WS up and send him my way, please ensure that his arm is still attached to the rest of him. I don't want a Godfather flashback.
