I don't have any C-frame experience to compare to, but if the DRDT is easier, I'm REALLY glad I don't have a C-frame! :D

I dimpled rudder skins and stiffeners last night, and boy is my right arm tired!

I need to make a dimpling table, having to support the skins makes it harder than it oughta be.

Ian, are you using the pneumatic riveter to dimple the perimeter holes? Not that many deep reach holes on the tail parts... I didn't make a dimpling table.

yea, I generally dimple with the squeezer when I can. I should have used the squeezer on the rudder stiffeners, but I thought "it'll just be quicker to go ahead and do it on the DRDT cause it's already setup". As a result, one achey arm :)

There's plenty of deep holes, those rudder skins have a LOT of them. Probably not a lot compared to the wings, but a lot just the same!

I don't think the C-frame is hard to use. The hammer does all the work. Just make sure you're on the hole! But your arm would probably get tired either way.

Watch and see how the pneu squeeze makes nice, additional holes adjacent to the ones you drilled!

You're going to have more done then me in no time Ian, and I started last summer. Don't forget to check out a few builder sites, if you're not already, before doing each section, it really helps give you another perspective on what needs to be done.

right now I'm starting to worry that I'll finish up the tail then have to wait FOREVER to get my wings!

Vans is posting 9 week lead times on the wings, so I really should just go ahead and order now! But, I don't have the 25% deposit money just yet.

The TE's not perfect, and one skin oilcans a bit. Ah well, such is life. If the rest of the airplane comes out PERFECT, maybe I'll build a new rudder :)

Nice Ian, you now have more done than me. Wow is it ever warm there, right at freezing here today, snow and freezing rain last night made for a mess this morning, but the snow plows and salt trucks have it pretty much cleaned up now (at least for a few hours when we get hit again).

no, not yet. I need to!

I'm waiting on a suspiciously absent paycheck. Once I have that in hand, hopefully I can put down the requisite deposit.

Ian, what do you do for a living? Whom do you work for that may not pay you routinely?

Waiting on a suspiciously absent paycheck is no way to live.

If there is something that really bugs me, it is not being paid for services. It was the primary reason I no longer do contracting for residential individuals.

CJ, I can't complain too much... two weeks ago, I negotiated a pretty hefty raise, and the raise required that I start being paid by a different entity than I was being paid by before, and this is the first check since that switch. I didn't know who to submit an invoice to until tuesday, and I don't know how long it takes them to payout on invoices.

it's highly classified...

oh, crap, sorry... I've been reading books again.

I am a software architect, I get paid to sit around and read rivetbangers.com and AOPA forums, and occasionally churn out some code. :D

Seems like many of us here have some software background.

I used to sell automation and database stuff.
