The longerons match!

Post by cjensen »

I did it right! Yes, I am tooting my own horn on this one! Since bending the longerons, I've wondered whether or not they came out right. There's a bunch of time between bending and fitting, but the wait is finally over!

Sweet!! All bends and curves match up as they are supposed to!

Okay...I'll stop now... :D

Now when I get there in a few months, you can come and bend my longerons for me

Chad, I hope mine come out that good if I ever get to them! One of these days I'll hopefully have time to get back on task. In the mean time you and CJ keep posting pictures so I know what I'm going to be working on. ;)

Oh, that's just black paint. My interior is going to be black and tan, and if I don't do a full interior, I want the exposed metal to be black. I'm painting it as I go, and I'll do some touch ups later if needed. :)

One area to watch out for is the front of the longerons and the firewall, don't drill any holes until the firewall is in place, yours looks like it might need to go back some more, I had a problem with the very tail section and with the bars that go into the longeron, once I had all holes filled in with kleco's that helped and then I just needed to grind off just a little off the longeron and an angle on the firewall to get the firewall all the way in possision.

Yeah, I expect to trim an eighth to a quarter from the front. Much better to be long than short!!

Well...I may be ready to put it on it's gear before I know it, but I won't be able to do that until the engine comes in since Egg mounts the engine in it's mount for me... 8)
