Aileron Trim

Post by n701vb »

Hi,

Does everyone install Aileron trim? Any complaints about either manual or electric? How often do you find your self using the aileron trim? If you don't use too often, I figure manual would be fine. If you need to use alot, then Electric may be the way to go. Any installation issues with either? I'm assuming the manual route is a little harder to install?

Also, I'm getting ready to order the QB kit (not enough room in the garage for the standard build). Any advise anyone has on ordering (or what to order or not to order), or "If I was doing again, I would do..." would be great!!!

Thanks
Vince

Aileron trim is definitely used frequently. When the fuel burns off, the wings get heavy. I've flown both, and prefer the manual because the electric is too fast (same with pitch trim) to be precise. I haven't installed mine yet, but the manual system is so STONE SIMPLE, that I would have to say the it's easier to intall...no motor, no wires, no switches. It's just two tension springs attached to the control column, with a lever in the middle.

As far as QB options go...I'm a slow builder...but make sure you get the tailwheel option...

I definitely use my manual aileron trim a bunch. It is nice and simple, precise, and very easy to install.
