Soon to be back in the building business

Post by svanarts »

Well it looks like I'll finally get to put those wing jigs that Jim Sherblon gave me to good use. My wing kit shows up tomorrow. Won't get to touch the crates though because I blew my finish kit money on a Mexican vacation for my wife and I. But when I get back I'll crack those crates open and get down to bidness. Hopefully I'll have pictures to follow soon.

The crates are in the garage safe and sound. No shipping damage that I can see. We're heading to Playa Del Carmen. What part of the Bahamas you headed to Chad? I spent two summers on Eluthera. Beautiful place.

I've heard that about Eluthra. Never been to that island, and won't get there this time. We will be staying at a little private resort on the west end of Grand. Max capacity at this place is 16 people at any time. I've been to it before, and it is just beautiful. Deadman's Reef is 100 feet offshore, and is some of the most beautiful snorkeling I've ever done! 8)

Oh, glad your crates arrived safely!

Just wanted to post some proof that I'm actually building again. I set up one of the wing jigs that Jim Sherblon gave me. I'll set the other one up after my mother-in-law leaves. She has trouble getting around and these jigs are going to be somewhat in the path between garage door and my wife's van.

Jim, if you're still out there thanks again for the jigs! They work great!

Glad to hear you're still trucking along

Hey there Scott, I haven't been able to order my emp kit yet, because I am getting my new garage ready to build in. First there was the task of getting all the moving boxes into the house, and put away, (still not done). Then build a wall to separate the 1-car from the 2-car section of the garage. The 2-car side will be airplane side (still not done, finishing sheetrock today). Finally will be building cabinets and workbenches to stay organized and clean. Somewhere in there I will be epoxying the floors, and painting it all up. I should be all done in about a month, but I know that if I order my emp now, I will work on it now, and the garage would probably stay a disaster for the next couple of years!!! ;) Well, glad to see your wing progress. Hopefully I will be there soon! I will post some pics later.

Cool Aaron. Flying season is about to close down here in the valley. Maybe in Feb or March when it opens up again I'll take a ride up around Sac and check out YOUR progress.

Of course, I could probably drive up there just as quickly.

Not much progress. However, there are now two sets of wing stands in the garage. I'm going to build both simultaneously. The main spars are all done. I'm just finishing up the rear spars. Then it's on to ribs. I will take you up on that offer to bang rivets. My wife doesn't want any part of riveting this time around.

Finally making some progress on my wings. Not much but progress nonetheless...

Pictures are too big to post here. I could shrink them but I'm feeling lazy tonight. If interested check them out on my website: http://airprayer.net

Way to go Scott! Glad to see you got the “ribs disappear into infinity” photo. Just wouldn't be right if you didn't get that one. :)
