Finish kit day!

Post by cjensen »

After two months of nothing but a few minor things to work on, I have a kit to play with again!! Great Sunday morning!

Canopy-

The non-powdercoated 320 mount and gear legs-

The welds are fantastic on the mount! Kinda neat to see it without it's cloths on!

The rest of the stuff...

There really isn't much to this kit. From the time the truck pulled up, to me finishing the inventory, was 3 hours flat. Nothing to it!

Now...back to work! 8)

Chad,

Congratulations on reaching the home stretch! Looks like fun. Its amazing how much time that little amount of parts takes. Have you worn one of the wheel pants like a "CONEHEAD" yet? On a serious note, I would cover that engine mount with gun oil or grease to keep it from rusting. Its easier to prevent the rust than it would be to remove it.

Good Luck!

No conehead wheelpants yet...

The engine mount is inside right now, and I'll be taking it to the powdercoater tomorrow or Tuesday to get it done. Hopefully that'll be quick enough! :o

3 hours including inventorying every bolt, washer nut and cotter pin in the hardware bags too? If so, my hats off to you. The hw alone bag took me 3 hours!

Anyways, congratulations dude! So far the finish kit has been fun to work on...well except for the canopy frame, but you will discover that fun in a few weeks!

PS - You get any word on the backordered Sam James cowls? I am thinking about writing Liz tomorrow to see how much longer the wait is.

I should *asterisk* the 3 hours because I don't count every nut and bolt. I check to make sure I have the correct bag, and move on. I haven't missed anything yet...and if I am missing something, it's nothing a quick trip downstairs to the parts department won't take care of.

I went to the bottom of the list since I had to get questions answered about whether or not the cowl would work with the 320, so I'm WAY out if the current ones are still back ordered. I should probably check to make sure I'm still on the list...

I haven't gotten as far along on my wings as I really oughta. I have the left wing done minus the bottom skin and flap. Right wing is maybe 30% done.
