cutting wing tip lens

Post by itisgood »

Are there any tips on cutting the lens in half for the wing tips?
Thanks
Dave

I just rough cut mine with tin snips, then used the belt sander to get them to final size :)

Now that sounds like an interesting idea.

i used the fiber wheel that Vans sent for the canopy work. I figured this would be a good place to practice vs the $900 canopy

I would strongly recomend using the Van's cutting wheel to practice on the wing tip lens. A tin snips and sander will work but you want all the experience you can get on cutting plexi before you start on the canopy! I managed to cut my canopy without problem but I know several guys who had to order a second canopy at close to $1000.00 with shipping. I hope to never have to cut one again unless I build another airplane!

Priced a canopy lately? The numbers have definitely gone up.
