That last dimple??

Post by RV7A »

How do I get to this hole to dimple it? THis is the aileron rib. I don't want to spread the rib apart, but maybe that's the only way?

Oh, and I forgot to ask-do I have to prime the inside of the aileron counterweight pipe? :)

I believe I spread my rib apart enough to get the vice-grip dimpler set in:

Or perhaps I used the pop-rivet dimpler (bending the nail to be able to insert):

I did prime the inside of the aileron countersunk. I mixed up some AKZO primer and poured it inside the tube, while turning the tube to cause it to evenly spread. Seemed to work quite well..the aileron hasn't fallen off the airplane yet!

Oh my...I am now super embarrassed to say that I have those vice-grip dimplers and completely forgot about them!

Since I ordered my fuse and finish kit, I've totally re-organized and cleaned my garage to make room. This involved putting tools away that I haven't used in a while. Completely forgot about that tool!

Well-thanks for reminding me and for posting your replies. Onward I go...

Those vice grip ones and the pop rivet ones are quite beneficial. Wait till you have to squeeze the rivet though
