Canopy mismatch

Post by flywulf »

hi all, long time no noise.... from me.

Had an accident in the shop and destroyed my slider canopy....woe is me

Had to buy another and do it all again. Problem I have here is a mismatch between the canopy and the fuselage at the left rear of the cockpit. I' post some photos when I can.

Any suggestions how to rectify this one?

:bang:
Thanks

What is a mismatch?

What type of canopy, slider or T/U?

Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Should make more sense then...

I'm guessing his slider is a slider, CJ!

Canopy photos

Post by flywulf »

75 degree day, a bit colder in the hanger and I had a heater running. The windshield slid off the hoop completely across the forward fuselage, over the engine mount and to the floor...and shattered....like I said woe is me. Murphy is a little bastard and just proved it one more time! I would recommend to all to plan your canopy work for the summer months.

Back to the matters at hand, lower right hand area of the photo, left rear side of the canopy is overhanging the fuselage side by about a half inch, was not like this when I did the fitting of the frame to the windshield hoop and fuselage. After the drilling and clecos are installed there is a mismatch.

Has anybody had to rework this?
