HS finished

Post by jim_geo »

I'm so happy I can hardly stand myself.

I'm thinking the beam to lay the empanage up on was a little over kill. Good thing it was cheap to build. Oh well.........think I'll turn it into the trailing edge smashy downy thingy  .

Nice work, Jim!

I see this is from last November. How much more have you done since on your Emp Kit?

Keep on bangin' rivets!

Jim,

I see that your floor is nice and glossy. What sealer/paint do you have on it?

Take care,

Jim

Is your emp done or did I see in another post you are starting on your ailerons???

Just wondering what you are working on now.

Jim, Thanks for taking note of the shop floor. It is one of the nicer things I did to the shop while getting ready to build. The coating is Sherwin Williams Armour Seal HS 1000. It's tinted down a notch to take the bright white edge off. While it's wet it smells like epoxy and a person really should wear a good chemical mask or use a fresh air system. Once it sets (after about a day) there is zero oder.

cjensen, You and I seem to be on the same track. I started my VS yesterday and am on my way out to get some more done as soon as I leave here. I agree with you on another post I've seen of yours about how much fun it is building. I for one though am happy with going the way of the quick build. A person can only have just SO much fun in life.

Captain_John, I never have to build an aileron or flap or for that matter a fuel tank. I guess I'll have to forgo having some of the building fun. I ordered the kit last Feb. and ended up with so many people needing me to do just one last project for them before I got started. Long story short my fuse and wings came before I even touched the emp. It looks like I start rigging controls very soon after I finish the emp.

Jim,

Don't let CJ fool you. While he does good work, I would have to guess there is a limit to fun, especially with fuel tanks!

I am also in a similar situation. Due to some job issues, my QB fuse and wings were delivered when I was about where you are. It has been a slower build due to other issues, but am just now mounting elevators to HS.

Thanks for the tip on the floor. Is it hard to keep clean?

Take care,

Jim

yeah jim, i really do enjoy it...so far. sounds like you'll be flying sooner than me though, with the QB and all. plus, i'm going with rotary power, and that is sure to give me some headaches if the FWF kits aren't ready by then! :bang:
