Dimpling Firewall for F-867

Post by briand »

How are you guys dimpling this after drilling for the Cooling Ramp? Buck-dimple or NAS1097AD3 (doesn't seem strong enough) with a macine c-sink is all I can think of.

Since I am building a -7, I can only guess your problem is trying to dimple the firewall without being able to get any decent dimpler in there. (Sorry for this post if this isn't what you mean).

Anyways, Avery sells a pop-rivet dimpler for 1/8" rivets:

To boot, their on sale, and if you spent $100, avery won't charge shipping.

It's amazing what happens when tools go into hibernation! Today I was radiusing the edge of a 063" strip with file after file, then all kinds of sandpaper. Just when I finished the first one, it dawned on me I had a 90 degree die grinder with a sandpaper wheel...DUH! The second strip I made was much easier, with much less swearing!
