Landing Light Installation

Post by plbarrett2004 »

I'm getting ready to begin riveting the wing skins et al.

I am definitely going with leading edge landing lights, but I have not decided upon a particular system... although I'm leaning towards the lights Mike found via Baja Designs. That being said, I'm not buying lights now. The plans recommend installing the leading edge lights (or at least the mounts and lens etc) before closing the leading edge. But I'm leaning towards installing everything when I buy the actual lights... which will be much further down the road. Is it super difficult to retrofit the leading edge lights?

It's not all that difficult to change lighting types, and the hole can really be cut any time. I swapped out my original halogen's for LED's after the wings were on, an while access wasn't the best, I got it done with relatively minor irritation.

Yeah, the Aurora LED price point is fantastic. Their lumens are slightly lower that Baja, but otherwise they look very comparable...

Has anyone installed them?

Those Aurora LED's do look great....why didn't anyone point them out before I dropped the bucks on the Baja Designs LED's? :bang:

They have a return policy... someone needs to buy them and do a comparison test in their driveway.

Link, please

I'm late to the thread -- can someone give me a link to the LED lights in question? I'm ready for a replacement for my standard Duckworth halogen bulbs.

Thanks,
Joe
