My experience: Sikaflex and fiberglassing the windscreen

For those interested, here is my blog on using Sikaflex adhesive to set the windscreen and then fiberglassing the fairing and roll bar. I still have more sanding to do as well as a couple more lay-ups on the roll bar.

Do we have any long term data for RV's done with this method?

At last count there were over 50 with the oldest (longest) time going to Mike Stewart (Kahuna) at 6 years with no problem. Mike's plane is a "Super 8" and has endured constant aerobatics throughout this time.

i wouldnt go the sika route

, but, in all honesty i feel it is a roubust enough setup if applied properly...im just old fasioned and concerned with the applied properly part. if it can go wrong it will on mine. so i'll fly around with a cracked canopy and enjoy the other crackfree wind screens at fly-ins and wish i had done mine..

no need to sell me on it, i believe its good, i just have this thing with mechanical fasteners.
