Seats!

Post by bruceh »

Productive night in the garage. Seat backs and seat pans are done!

Did one long day of priming and painting last weekend. Interior color is gray-beige satin JetFlex water reducible. Seems to take a couple of days to fully cure and be ready to take riveting.

Now I just need to get some cushions in there so I can try this thing on for size and make some airplane noises.

Sweet. I have been debating on when to paint the interior. This gives me a baseline. I hope to be working on the seats in the next week or two. Really nice job!

Nice job, Bruce! Those seats are a lot of work, aren't they. I love the color you chose for the JetFlex.

Spike, I painted mine as I went along, and have no regrets. The JetFlex is a great product.

I had been planning to paint mine in one big shot once the fuse gets to a fairly mature stage. The paint that you all are using seems to be really good stuff.

You'll need more than 1 quart of JetFlex, and 2 is probably too much.
I still have the tunnel covers, flap motor covers and the forward seat pans and center console parts to go. Haven't thought about the instrument panel yet. Thin it with about 20% distilled water and it shoots really nice.

The color I selected matches my wife's Mazda CX-9 interior color exactly, and I find the look of it quite nice. I'll probably go with leather seats with some dark accents, and either grey or black seat belts.

I wasn't going to paint my seat backs. But after painting the fuse I had leftover paint, so I shot them with the purple. It is tough as nails and looks so good I'm thinking of pulling my panel apart and having Corky shoot it with the same product.
