RV 9 Empennage
RV 9 Empennage
I'm new to the site and details of RV construction, but hope to start soon.
My question, is there any difference in the empennage kits for the RV 9 and the RV 9A??

Welcome Mason
There are no differences between the tail kits for the 9 and 9A. There is a slight difference in the way that you assemble the kit though based upon which one you want. If memory serves me correctly it has to do with the rear spart of the vertical stabilizer.

RV-9 Empennage
I to am new to the groupe, just received my Empennage kit and am just amazed at the quality and the amount of work that has been done in what they call the slow built Kit, see I built an RV-4 just after van came out with it and that is what I call a slow built kit. I am also building the -9 tail dragger.

Chad: I to love them all, I have had both tail dragger and nose dragger. I presently own and fly a Grumman AA1B with a 0320 upgrade. I have flat spots worn on my tail tie down, just cant break the habbit of landing mains first nose high.
Like most tail dragger pilots I just love the looks of a tail dragger and they are just nothing but fun to land and take off in and that is what flying is all about to me.

Yes I do. So many pilots after flying for some time get sloppy and start what I call a 3 point landing with nose dragger planes and that is a formula for disaster. A tail dragger keeps you sharp or you pay the price and we know that.

What I like about a taildragger is that you "fly it to the ropes"!
