Is there a reason why both of the nose ribs on the vertical stab have only one of the holes in the tip of the rib? According to the plans the tip of both nose ribs should have two holes on each side but there is only one, the one nearest the tip is not prepunched in the rib, the hole is in the skin? I was just going to drill it but thought I would ask?
I just match drilled them four holes(2 per nose rib) Just curious about why they were not prepunched?

I remember some of the ribs on the -7 empennage being like that. Just use the hole in the skin as a pilot to drill the hole in the rib. Done and done.

While all my nose ribs were drilled, I wish they had not been. The nose rib is really tight in the nose and trying to get it in position and aligning the holes was pretty difficult.
I can appreciate the fact if Vans decided to omit these holes in favor of having the builder drill it once aligned.
Personally, I would call Vans to make sure.

I recall that about my kit as well - only one of the holes was prepunched in the rib. I clecoed it in and drilled through the skin for the other hole.
