rudder rod end bearings

Post by Joe Parish »

The only nuts I recived that fit the rod end bearings is castle nuts. The plans call for AN316-6 jam nuts. Using the castle nuts on the rod end bearing forward of the spar does not seem right to me. Any thoughts?

Hmmm...shoulda been some jam nuts in the hardware bags. Don't use castle nuts there since they aren't intended for that, and you'll need them later anyway. Call Van's and tell them they were missing, shouldn't be a problem. If they won't send them, let me know, I have plenty...

Thanks Chad. I sent Vans an e-mail, usually a few days before I will hear back. I did not see on my plans for the empenage were the castle nuts are used. I believe they sent me those instead of the jam nuts. These guys sure don't pass a up a chance to take a shot at you do they!
