Paint - not too bad

Post by A2022 »

I painted this one. not perfect, some orange peel and minor flaws but at 15 feet is looks pretty good. painting is a lot of work. almost as bad as wiring... it wears you down until you can't take it anymore, but that's about the time you're finished. my recommendation is to use a urethane paint with an epoxy primer for durability. white on top reduces the heat in the summer. place the hand on the dark blue wing tips and then the white wing and the temp difference is significant. I can't say enough good things about the RV9. I really don't do much with it, except fly it. key features: safety, economy, low maintenance, nice traveling for two people, can carry a couple of folding bikes. not as fast as an SR-71 but I have time to spare and enjoy the scenery. if you want to make nice landings, get a 9. recommend a modern style aircraft, with a nose wheel, similar to a fighter jet. :)

don't build the wrong airplane! (this message is brought to you by RVPlasticParts RV9 advertising committee)

I think Van's copied my general paint scheme on the factory 10. a change from their yellow on top. :)

I do like their green lower and white wing tips! looks clean and not gaudy.
