9A Wing Jig question

Post by Lorin D »

Hi All,
I'm just about to put up the two 4x4 posts in my garage for my 9A wing jig.
Van's Dwg 15 shows ~133 inches from inside to inside of the two attachment angles (that get fastened to the vertical 4x4 posts).
However, it also shows the inboard end of the front spar protruding beyond the attachment angle on the right side.
This means the spar must be longer than 133 inches.
I measured the spar and it's almost 133" exactly.
Unless I'm missing something - this ain't right.
So my questions are:
1. What have others used for the distance between the two upright posts?
2. How well di it work for you??
Thx!!! Lorin

I measured the distance from the outboard end of the spar to the inboard edge of the flange on the inboard rib (approx 128") then added ~1" for clearance. NOTE: this 129"-130" is the distance between the inside edges of the horizontal arms attached to the 4x4 posts. The actual distance between the posts will be somewhat greater.
