RV-10 Manual Specifics

Post by bcondrey »

The RV-10 plans include drawings of the subsection that the instructions are referring to integrated with the text. At the beginning of each section there is an 11x17 drawing of everything to be completed in that manual section. An example is that there will be a manual section dedicated to the rudder. First page of the section will show a drawing of the entire rudder. Remaining pages of the section will have "zoomed in" drawings in context with a set of specific instructions.

Here's a couple of links that I took from Mike Howe's web site that should clear everything up:

His first entry on Oct 27, 2003 (scroll down about 1/3) shows a picture of a typical section first page with an overview drawing.

His entry for Nov 3, 2003 (scroll down to the bottom) has a very clear shot of a typical manual page. http://www.etigerrr.com/RV10VS/verticalstab110203.htm

Take a minute and look at the above pages - it should answer all of your questions. If there's something specific that you'd like to know I'd be happy to take a picture. Most of the RV-10 builders are on the Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RV10/
There's a lot of pictures of various things in the Photos area along with general chatter related to building.

THANKS BOB!!! That makes PERFECT sense now!

It's probably a good idea and seems very organized! I still plan to ask Van's if I can buy a set ahead of time. They may be resisting because they think I'm going to fab the whole thing...

I noticed another RV-10 builder's site that has pictures of all of the plans pages. They're too small to read the text but you'll certainly have a good feel for the approach taken.
