N410BL Flies!

Post by leffler »

About 5pm at KDLZ, N410BL took it's first flight with me as the pilot. Geoff Combs, Phil Newlon, Renee Leffler, Zac Holcomb, Lynn Coriell assisted me with the first flight. I did a couple touch and goes with Geoff in his RV-10, then it was my turn. I want to thank everyone that helped me today.

The bigger question is can you afford it?

I would sell in an instant for the right price. However, the right price is about twice the market price at the moment. :o

It's amazing that the RV-10 flies much better when the fuel pump actually works. Replaced it over the weekend and now things work as they should. I had an enjoyable hour test flight late yesterday afternoon. Now, back to Phase I testing.

What do you mean by, "when the fuel pump actually works"?

Great question. Maybe I am glad that he wouldn't sell it to me!

Sorry I missed the question. I just noticed it this morning.

My mechanical fuel pump failed on the first flight. Which made for a highly anxious trip around the pattern to land. Fortunately, the electric fuel pump handled the job quite well and allowed me to land with out any issue.

It was a very tense few seconds until I figured out what was wrong. It was a mixed blessing. I overlooked turning the boost pump on during the pre-flight check list. Had it been on, I probably wouldn't have known there was an issue with the mechanical pump.
