IO-390 Update

RV-7, IO-390 Update
The engine is mounted; exhaust is on and so far have not ran into any compatibility problems. The exhaust is AWI and it fit perfectly, I plan to run two heat muffs in series, one in the standard position and the other on the rear pipe. AWI uses a stud welder to attach ¼ - 20 threaded studs to increase the surface area in the heat muff area. In the end I may not need two muffs but I’m planning it at this time.

Don, Indeed, it does look GREAT!

I would guess the engine to be a Barrett, by looking at the valvecovers.

Tell me, how are you configuring the oil cooler?

I am interested in seeing your progress! I am paying due diligence to the engine because I may go the same route!

Keep us posted!

My plan is to use a SW oil cooler mounted on the back of the baffles. I have not purchased the cooler yet but will be soon.

Sweet! That exhaust does look great. Looks like a good way to go to me. That 390 looks pretty nice also. I thought I was pretty sure what I wanted for an engine but those 390's are somewhat tempting. I better just stick with the M1B I had in mind and quit looking at the 390's and listening to CJ's commentary on them.

IO-390 update

I have been out of the country a lot lately, been home only 6 days in the last month so not much progress on the plane.
When I do get time I have been working on the engine baffles, now nearly complete.
The travel should taper off and I should be in a position to get back full time to the RV.
Regards,
Don

Cool!

Can we get some updated pics?

Especially pics of the heat muffs! I want ALOTTA heat and with the 4 into 1's it is certainly harder to do.
