Cutting out the carbs
Cutting out the carbs
So the RVator today detailed how carburetors will no longer be available for aircraft engines. What are fellow carb junkies planning on doing? What's your best guess, will the engine manufacturers pick up the slack? I didn't want to go with fuel injection but now I may have to.

Long live the carbs!Precision Airmotive has reached a tentative deal with "a group including Tim Henderson, President of Aero Accessories, and others involved in the manufacture of the Tempest brand of general aviation products," to buy Precision’s line of MSA aircraft carburetors, according to a news release from Aero Accessories/Tempest issued Monday. The group says it plans to move the manufacturing facilities for the carbs to a facility in an undisclosed location in North Carolina. Precision announced earlier this month that it was suspending manufacture and distribution of the carbs and parts after it was unable to obtain product liability insurance. There’s no mention of the insurance issue in the Henderson Group’s release.

I think we will be safe for a while. I figure if I have to Ill pull the carb off of the Cessna. Hmm, the partners might not appreciate that though.

I don't have my newest RVator yet, but this is what happens when people (Van's-whoever put the article in) jump in on a topic BEFORE the dust has settled. Carb's aren't going to just go away any time soon. There are WAY to many engines out there with carbs that will need service, and WAY to many new airplanes set up for a carb. A deal is being made, and they will continue to be produced.
