Installing an IO540C4B5 in RV-8 ?

Post by Mike Balzer »

Does the fire wall have to be reinforced to accept putting in a larger engine.

Any comments on doing this would be appriciated.

Thanks,

I would think that it very well might. A heavier engine will put more stress on it under accelerated loads. What they are though I don't know. There have been a few of these types of mods out there. You might want to try and track down one of those builders.

I personally wouldn't do it, but then I am not you. I have heard that the Super 8's are pretty darn good performers.

I will try to contact Mike Sewart or talk to some of the rocket guys about any mods for strengthening may be required.
