Hehe! This is the color I envisioned from the very start! The I got sidetracked, then came back, then strayed again, then came back, then flip-flopped, then came back, then weathervaned, then came back...

That's one thing I'm certain of! We talked about how the rings are to be positioned, how the piston goes in, etc...Done right!
Not trying to be rude to you. I was being very careful when I assembled my engine to make sure everything was just so. Then just as I finished torquing the last cylinder bolts I started thinking to myself "I was so careful with the first three pistons but I didn't remember checking that last one" Hmmm. Long story short I pulled the cylinder off and sure enough the piston was upside down. They'll run ok for awhile but eventually will have a hardware hemorrhage.
Not a problem Jim...all we did, was pull the piston past the rings, verified they were in properly AND the piston was right side up, slathered preservative oil in the cylinder, then put the ring tool around it, and slid it back in. All were checked carefully!
We got it off the stand this evening, and I added preservative oil while on the hoist so I could tilt the engine in all directions to try and get the oil to flow over the crank as much as possible.
These are some PRETTY pics! No, I did not paint the edge of the prop flange. It's tape to keep it from getting nicked when we put it on the pallet...
Desiccant plugs...
One more for the h*** of it...
I hope to get it back on the pallet tomorrow, and might bring it home over the weekend...depending on Larry's schedule...he has the truck!
