Lycoming 0-320-E2G

Post by Fred Fagan »

I am planning on removing the 0-320-E2G from my Grumman AA-1B and installing it in the RV-9 that I am building. Has anyone used this Engine in there RV-7 or 9 and if you did, did you have any problemes installing it? I am going to order my finish kit and need to know if the Engine will work.

I dont know if it will or not, but some of the key things to look for are placement of the fuel pump, carb, oil filter, & mags. The biggy is to make sure that the accessories clear the engine mount. Vans *may* be of some assistance in this.

Chad

I plan on parting out the Grumman (A real performer) after I use the firewall foreward panel and avionics excluding the prop it will not work on the RV-9.

Update

I called Van's and they said the engine will work on the 9 but not on the 9A due to the carburator being on the back side of the intake it would interfear with the nose wheel landing gear of the 9A.

Fred,

Kind of off-topic, but were you at one time a Marine? I knew two Fred Fagens, father and son. Both Marines. Ring a bell?

Take care,

Jim

Fred,

Thanks. I guess a common name, but I did happen to run into the guy with your name that I went to school with on a message board one day! Small world.

Best of luck!

Take care,

Jim
