One more fly in the ointment. What do ya think of an O-360 with a fixed pitch prop as a primarily cross country machine????????G

Why not? I flew my 180 Cherokee all over the southeast and midwest for three years...same setup, just
A LOT slower!

I think that is a fine combination for cross country work. If I weren't limited to 160HP, Id be putting a fixed pitch prop on the 9A.
I think in the long run you should be quite satisifed with that choice.

I think it's a great choice. The engine below grew up to be an I0-360.

That engine is a beauty! All engines should look like they are worth $20K. Very nice indeed.
