Gentlemen,
I have searched the posts and cannot find the answer based on my search, so here goes:
I have a brand new YIO-320-D1A installed in my not-yet-flying RV-9A. In wiring the ignition switch, I have to configure jumpers a certain way depending upon whether the left magneto is a "retard breaker magneto" and whether it has "impulse coupling."
The engine manual says that my left magneto is a S4LN-1227. However the engine manual does not provide the information I need, and I cannot find it on the internet. SOOOO, does anyone know if this mag is
(a) impulse coupling and
(b) retard breaker?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hey Hugo,
I would think that you most likely have an impulse coupled magneto. The retard breaker information that I have found makes me think that is most likely for the 'shower of sparks' type of ignition starting system. I would be surprised if this is that you have. I *think* there would be more parts, etc if you had that.
Its probably worth a call to your engine supplier just to make sure.
