Chad-
Thanks a lot for the most generous offer! Do you mind if we wait until your name is called for me to make up my mind?
Have you ordered your finish kit now that you know the engine you will be using?

I just ordered up mine yesterday. Sounds like both of us will be trying to cut the canopy in colder weather! (late winter/early spring)!cjensen wrote: I plan to order the finish kit early to mid November.

I've several other projects that I'll use to fill time if I get to the canopy too fast, and it's still cold out. I plan to put that off until June or July next year.
I have lots of painting left to do in the house.
I have a 1200 VW engine that I want to tear down and rebuild.
Oh, and I intend to start polishing metal!
Cutting the canopy is WAY down on the list for me right now...

So what are you gonna use it in? Maybe a Hummel Bird - we watched those at OSH this year - they were pretty sweet.
I know how the side projects go ... I have been away from the -8 (aside from going out to the shop and looking at it) for most of the year due to this home remodel project. Every little thing I start leads to 10 more projects that need to be done ....

That's a good question. It flew once before on a Teeny Two, but wasn't quite enough for it. A friend of mine just wanted it out of his hanger, and gave it to me. I've always had a thing for early to mid-50's Beetle's, and that could be my post RV project someday. ???tshort wrote:So what are you gonna use it in?<snip>
Sorry for the thread creep...
